About SAIL
How many times have you read about a war crime, a court judgment, or an international crisis and thought: I have no idea what any of that actually means?
How many headlines have used words like ‘genocide’, ‘occupation’, ‘self-defence’, and ‘binding’… without ever explaining what they mean, what they require, or whether they're even being used correctly?
International law governs almost everything that matters right now. War. Peace. Trade. Climate. Human rights. And almost none of it is explained to the people it actually affects.
Lawyers and academics use dense language, world leaders rarely explain their decisions, and diplomats negotiate behind closed doors.
SAIL (Simplified Approach to International Law) exists to close that gap.
Founded by Dr Yusra Suedi, an international lawyer and Associate Professor who has worked for the UN and represented governments and organisations before the International Court of Justice, SAIL translates the legal architecture behind today's headlines into language anyone can follow.
